In 2016, Hilman started working for Wikimedia Indonesia, a non-profit organization managing Wikipedia, focusing on open copyright license advocacy and adaptation through the Creative Commons Indonesia (CCID) project. Other than that he also did knowledge management activities for CCID, which include conducting workshops and research with topics ranging and around the social function of copyright in Indonesia. His latest collective publication with CCID are an attempt to find a connection between legal studies, online open historical archive databases, and art.
His interest in continuing activities related to cultural archive studies led him to run the librarian function at KUNCI Study Forum & Collective until early 2023. Beside that, on pursuing his interest regarding practices of autonomous archiving, he also run his own autonomous archival initiative on Indonesia’s hardcore punk music and independent publication through a project called Perpustaxaan.
